Matheus França: The Next Neymar?

Ollie Kemp

From the streets of Flamengo to Selhurst Park. The Eagles have got themselves another wonderkid on their hands. Crystal Palace’s recruitment team seriously need a pay rise. Matheus Franca is the name of this young, tricky, Brazilian winger who has recently signed for the South London club on a 5 year deal worth around £26 million.

Following Wilfred Zaha’s unexpected move to Turkey it seemed as if Palace were doomed without their main man but they may have just found the boy to replace him. Big boots to fill but this young man doesn’t have a Ballon d’Or clause in his contract for no reason.

The samba sensation is capable of playing anywhere across the front line but is usually deployed as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his flair and finesse but also excels in areas such as ball retention and creating chances.

Whilst having the ability to glide past players with his immense technical ability and impressive dribbling skills he also possesses the physicality that is much needed in the premier league and will not be afraid of a few challenges. The exciting teenage prospect not only offers creative magic but also has a keen eye for goal and holds the ability to finish with both feet when needed to.

His linkup play with players like Eze and Olise could be devastating and will certainly be causing nightmares for the rest of the league. This could be a combination that we hear a lot more from this season. With many big teams sniffing around this 19 year old baller it seemed a surprise that Palace ended up securing his signature but they could really be one to look out for this season.

Endless amounts of talent in that Crystal Palace team and the new boy Franca has only gone and amplified that. This silky Brazilian is in for a big season and already has reporters describing him as the ‘next Neymar’. Crystal Palace are cooking!
